Ilkaen Sylvana was head of the Royal Family of Gannelore leading up to The Race Wars. Although not perfect, her rule was fair.
When Ilkaen Sylvana came to power, she was already 450 years old, the oldest a Sylvana ever came to power. Her great grand father, the previous head of the family, passed away peacefully one winter’s evening, leaving Ilkaen to take the helm.
Things were rough to begin with. Although wiser than previous heads who’d come to power, Ilkaen had the disadvantage of a discontent populous. The people of Gannelore were quickly growing discontent for the laws of the falderian empire.
Over the course of her 15-year reign, the tension continued to build. Riots in the streets of Gannelore called for the cession from Falderia. Protests at the royal palace called for the family to seek reparations for unjust rule. Despite the noise, Ilkaen Sylvana remain steadfast in her position to remain within the empire, making the most of Gannelore’s fortunate location.
On the anniversary of 15 years as the head of the Royal Family of Gannelore, Ilkaen Sylvana made a decision that would end the Sylvana bloodline. Gannelore joined Eschenfeld in their militarized protest.
During the massacre of Gannelore, Ilkaen watched her children and grand children slaughtered before her. Every prominent member of her family was brought to the stairs of the royal palace, and slowly tortured to death by the monstrous commanders of the falderian empire armies. Ilkaen Sylvana was spared, a message to Gannelore that they are yet allowed to get in line and remain within the falderian empire.
In the years following, Ilkaen Sylvana and Eschenfeld plotted and organized the Scorched Earth event. Shortly following the Scorched Earth attack, Gannelore flooded. Many died in this flooding, including Ilkaen Sylvana who was found drowned just meters from a safe platform in the royal palace.
